He
couldn’t say that Meisa hadn’t warned him.
The very first day he’d met the pop star, Meisa has grinned at him with that arch superiority of her hers and told him most straightforwardly, “Be careful; she bites.” Reita hadn’t given it much thought. He’d assumed that it was some idiotic inside joke that Meisa was holding over his head. She’d only known him for the space of five minutes at that point, having pulled the GazettE’s bassist aside during a concert rehearsal while Kitty and Ruki were occupied elsewhere, completely distracted by each other. It was an odd warning, ‘she bites,’ but then again, Meisa was an odd entertainer. He’d never thought she meant it. Not literally. He didn’t learn that she had, in fact, meant it very literally, until nearly a month after she’d given out her strange warning. As a couple, the ReiKitty pair was taking it slow, trying to see if they would make it past the honeymoon phase before they announced it to the public. Announcements like relationships could only be made if the couple was strong and stable enough to take the public backlash and default disapproval. At the same time as no official announcements were being made, the GazettE was arranging things so that the eventual announcement would come as no surprise. ReiKitty was sent out to some of the many partial-group promotionals, such as radio shows, under the guise of being well suited to perform if necessary, being that both a vocalist and a primary composer was in their number. They could be cute for the cameras together without a third wheel riding along as would have had to happen if Kitty weren’t a staple singer in the GazettE’s line. It was at one of these partial-group promotional radio shows that Reita discovered what exactly Meisa had meant by her warning as the interview segment came to a close and the MC had announced off-air that he really needed to throw up and left hosting the rest of the musical program to the GazettE’s capable members. He’d promptly disappeared and only seconds later, Kitty was bouncing around the soundstage in high spirits. She had enough of a sense of propriety and respect to remain seated when she was in the presence of an elder, but such decorum wouldn’t last long at all after an abrupt exit such as the MC had just made. Beneath her less-than-calm exterior, Kitty was a ball of hyperactive energy. The moment she wasn’t restrained by the rules of politeness, she was up and about, peering through the thick glass at the mass of fans that had gathered to get a glimpse of the GazettE’s members, though mostly it was Reita the fangirls were interested in. The fans stared suspiciously back at Kitty as she waved brightly to them. No sound could make it through the thick glass that made a silent bubble of the sound stage, but even if a pin drop could be heard Kitty still wouldn’t have received a response to her greeting. The fans simply didn’t know how to react to her. No news of a relationship had been released, but the fans weren’t blind. They could see an attachment when they saw one, and they could tell the ReiKitty combo wasn’t just fanservice anymore. Kitty was unperturbed by their lack of responsiveness and soon she’d procured a notepad that had been employed to level a table and a sharpie that had been mixed for eons amongst the chaos of the wires covering the table of radio equipment. Thank you all so much for coming! She showed her message both to the fans gathered around and to the camcorder broadcasting the studio session to the internet. Flipping the page over she wrote out another quick message. Would you like to play a game with me? There were a few scattered nods in the sea of suspicion as Kitty bounced around the studio, showing her query to the entire assembly. She took the response to be much more enthusiastic than it genuinely was. 21 Questions! Decide on something, anything, as a group, and I’ll try to guess what it is with yes or no questions! Kitty grinned as she made the game more interesting by adding in stakes. If you win, I’ll tell you a secret about the GazettE's summer plans that isn’t supposed to be released for another two months! “Kitty, sit down,” Reita growled, kicking his feet up onto the table of the control center. He leaned back in the chair, lacing his hands behind his head as he tried to relax as the current string of songs played itself out. It was almost time to introduce the next set. Kitty wrote one last massage to the fans before going to sit on top of the bassist, as his big boots were in the way of her chair. You guys have the next two songs to decide on something, okay? This time the nods were a bit more enthusiastic and widespread and Kitty went to sit down perfectly placated. She skipped merrily to Reita’s side and curled up on his lap as the pair got ready to introduce the next series of songs. They spent a few minutes chatting with a caller, one that commended the interaction Kitty was having with the fans in the studio. It puffed Kitty up enough to make Reita shake her off of his lap as he turned to press play on the pre-queued playlist. As Reita gave a few witty closing comments, Kitty pulled herself to her feet and leapt back onto Reita’s lap to have the final word. And with that the pair was off air again. Immediately Kitty moved to return to bouncing about the studio. The fact that the fans had then entire set to discuss the thing they were going to use for the game didn’t mean that Kitty had to stay seated as they convened. Reita however saw things differently and he latched his fingers onto the crisscrossed ribbons at Kitty’s sides to keep her seated as he barked, “Yah! Sit still!” He grumbled incoherently a bit as he fought to get Kitty to sit down. “I’m trying to relax here, and your constant fussing is bothering me!” Barely managing to keep from toppling over, Kitty twisted about and smacked the bassist on the top of his head. “Aren’t you excited about all the people here? They’re so interesting!” “Them? Interesting?” Reita snorted. “We’re the interesting ones here, they’re watching us like we’re goldfish in a bowl.” Kitty smacked him again. “You shouldn’t be rude like that! The fans love us! They just wanna know more about what we’re like!” “Stop hitting me,” Reita grumbled. “Let go of me,” Kitty countered. “No.” Reita’s smirk lasted only as long as it took for Kitty to land another smarting smack on his head. “Why you little . . .” His complaints faded into the rumble of the ensuing tussle, mixed between growls and giggles as Kitty fought to free herself and Reita struggled to keep her contained. The scrimmage ceased when Kitty found herself thoroughly tied up; Reita’s arms were wrapped around her torso, pinning her arms to her sides at the elbows, and his long legs were tangled around hers, ensuring that she couldn’t hope to kick herself free. The most she could do was flop her forearms around like a diseased penguin, not impacting Reita in the slightest other than causing him great amusement. It was an unfortunate circumstance from Kitty’s perspective. She pouted, frustrated. The song that constituted the end of the wait period in Kitty’s game with the fans came to an end and Kitty peered helplessly at them as Reita finagled the next set to play without introduction by hitting the controls with his elbow a few times. Kitty really wanted to get up and play with the fans, she failed to noticed that they were ten times more engaged with observing her tussle with Reita than they had been with joining in on her game. “Let me go,” she whined. “Not a chance.” “I’m warning you!” Reita laughed, a deep and rocking chuckle that made Kitty vibrate as it passed through her. “Eh? And what can you do?” he asked, shifting her a bit in his grasp to remind her of exactly how trussed up she was. She couldn’t move more than an inch without his consent and compliance. He put his face next to hers so that she could see his smirk. She returned his look with incredulous sass. “You should really let me go while I’m still asking nicely,” she sighed. “Not gonna happen. Sorry.” “Fine.” With that, Kitty squirmed and twisted around, and bit into Reita’s bare shoulder, digging her sharp little teeth into the exposed skin there with untempered force. The resulting shrieks of giddiness and rage that resounded from the fangirls gathered around the studio were so loud they actually managed to penetrate the bubble of silence. Reita with a mix of equal parts surprise and pain, let his grasp of Kitty fall limp. Her teeth were actually quite painful, sitting like little fangs behind her sweet smile. Kitty seized the opportunity and leapt away from him, twirling in delighted glee out of his grasp to sweep up her notepad and marker in one fluid motion. Looking over his surprised expression, Kitty purred, “What? I thought Meisa would have warned you!” She winked at him and imitated a cat scratching at the air, “This kitty-cat has more than claws up her sleeve!” Then she skipped off joyfully to go play with the fans. Reita stared at her in disbelief, his eyes flicking now and then to the red marks on his shoulder. Fanshots of the damage would already be flooding the internet. By the time the throbbing in his shoulder had faded, Reita’s shocked expression had shifted to a resigned and amused almost-smile. His Kitty was certainly a crazy one, and she probably had rabies for all he knew. But he really couldn’t say that Meisa hadn’t warned him. ♡♥Finite♥♡ |
