Maya was not jealous.
He was pissed. It was rare that he was anything but childishly excited and deliriously happy, but Maya was most certainly pissed. Rarer still was that Maya would be pissed at Aiji, but that is exactly what he was. The guitarist had been his best friend for longer than anyone could distinctly remember. They argued a lot, over any number of things, but Maya had never really been pissed at Aiji before. It was all Aiji’s fault, honestly. If the damn guitarist had any sense at all, he would just let it go, but no, the princess just had to keep pushing. Maya was not jealous. No matter how Aiji teased him or taunted or brought it up at the stupidest of times, Maya was not jealous. He wasn’t jealous of Aiji. But he was pissed. The root of his anger lay in the fact that during live performances, there were points in a growing number of song where Miya and Aiji threw in bits of spontaneous fanservice that Maya thought were unnecessary. Especially in songs like Bell the Cat, where the bass part and the guitar part bounced off each other in a call and response pattern. They were supposed to play back to back, but more and more often they were figuring out ways to show off that they could share their instruments. Maya found it most unnecessary that Miya would duck up under Aiji’s guitar strap and lean back against his chest as she played a few measures. He also found it unnecessary that Aiji would wrap his long arms so closely around her slim figure to play on her bass for the next few phrases. There just wasn’t any call for it, not to that extent. Sure, the fans liked playing around with the idea of het pairings for fanfiction that the addition of Miya and Haruki provided, but Maiji was still the unquestioned favorite. Making such a hard throw at het fanservice was just unnecessary. He was not jealous. Aiji accused him of being jealous on the very first night Miya and Aiji had put the stunt into action. They’d already been bandmates for a while by then, but Miya had been slow to accept overtures of fanservice, especially spontaneous ones. It had been quite the surprise when she’d jumped at Aiji’s invitation to play on his instrument. The guitarist had held no pretenses about the fact that he’d been extremely pleased by the turn of events that showed Miya was starting to trust him onstage, trust him like the musical family that any good band needed to be. It had pissed Maya off then and it was still pissing him off now. The unnecessary fanservice and Aiji’s obvious pleasure in his part in making it happen were more than enough to serve as the reason that Maya was pissed off, but what was really getting to him was Aiji’s incessant teasing about it. Aiji’s fanservice with Miya was unnecessary, especially such dramatic fanservice. Maya’s fanservice with her however was a different story. As the singer, Maya needed to have a fanservice play with everyone whose feet would touch their stage at a Live. It was just a matter of practicality. Aiji had a guitar to be playing. He shouldn’t have had time for fanservice. Sure, when Maya had been a guitarist for Miyavi, he’d had plenty of time for fanservice, but those were different songs written for different things with different sorts of timings. There was no jealousy involved. Regardless of the fact that Aiji could bring up scores of footage that had Maya pouting when Miya was playing around with Aiji onstage and scores more of his smile when Maya and Miya were at their crazy games, Maya would not be swayed. He was not jealous. ♡♥Finite♥♡ |
