It wasn’t unusual to see band members trudging backstage after a lengthy live performance on their last legs. It wasn’t peculiar to see the exhausted members fight for every minute of consciousness as they saw to the keeping of their instruments and the icing of their sore limbs. And it most certainly wasn’t unusual for tempers to be a bit short as the members waited for the van that would port them back to the relative comfort of their hotel to pull around the venue for them and time seemed to stretch out in long agonizing seconds.
What was worth noting backstage after the GazettE’s latest live was that one of the fantastically tired men was antsy; the toe-tapping, hyper-active, aggressive and angry, drive-everyone-else-crazy sort of antsy. Even exhausted beyond belief, Reita was antsy. His members were far too tired to have noticed it as quickly as the crew had. The many people tasked with making the rock stars as comfortable as possible had taken a keen dislike to the sharp-tongued aggressive anxiety apparently plaguing the bassist. Reita, collapsed in a chair by the door of their break room, ignored their distaste as he barked commands and bounced his knees in time to the pangs of his over-taxed cardiac system and fought for consciousness at the same moment. Kai was the first of his members to take tired notice of the bassist’s petty fretting. The drummer’s arms were submerged to the shoulders in buckets of ice water that were by far more ice than water and the numbing of the pain combined with his nearly motherly nature allowed for him to pick up on Reita’s agitation. It was a long moment of slow cognition after that however before he figured out the cause. Once he had, he laughed softly and tried to pretend he was awake as he said, “If you keep making that face, it’ll get stuck that way.” Reita didn’t respond verbally, but he gave a low growl and his scowl deepened. Across the way, half sitting and half slumped across the couch, Aoi snickered. Most of his bandmates ignored him, Aoi snickered a lot. It was like Uruha being a diva, or Ruki licking things, or even Reita tripping over something. Aoi snickering was simply the expected state of things. Reita growled incoherently at him and Aoi snickered again. His chesty half chuckle caused the figure sprawled over him in a dead faint to shift slightly, curling in closer to him. Reita grumbled viciously at the simple movement. Observing the proceedings from the floor, Ruki pouted. He felt distinctly left out of the loop and equally uncomfortable. The floor may have been the closest and coldest seat he could find as he tumbled backstage with his members, but it was also hard. It took another snicker from Aoi, a quiet whimper from the sleeping figure of Kitty, and another harsh growl from Reita before Ruki was able to catch up with the situation. He smiled when he finally managed the feat though. The situation was amusing after all. Reita was pissed because of Kitty, or more accurately because of those immediately surrounding Kitty. As a temporary addition to the GazettE’s membership as they toured the globe, Kitty was a delicate young woman that every standard member felt a particular obligation to comfort and protect. And regardless of the fact that she was in no uncertain terms Reita’s to care for, the GazettE carried on with keeping her well cared for according to that innate need. Regardless of the fact that Kitty was Reita’s girlfriend, she was currently curled up in unconsciousness in another man’s arms. The third man of the night, in point of fact. She’d dropped off the stage into a dead faint, falling squarely onto Ruki’s back. The singer had carried her dutifully into the break room before passing custody of her sleeping from over to Kai, as the leader was simply the nearest person to be found and Ruki was about to collapse himself. Ruki slumped to the cool concrete floor as Kai kept Kitty comfortable on the couch as he waited for the buckets of ice he needed for his arms to be made accessible. Both the couch and Kitty had fallen into Aoi’s care as the guitarist came over to make his collapse and Kai’s icy relief arrived. Even now, as Uruha appeared to alert the others to the arrival of the van, he took Kitty’s conveyance into his own hands rather than waiting for Reita to stumble to his feet and make his way over. With Kitty and Uruha settled in the very back, Reita made for a malcontent passenger in the front row of seats as the van rumbled through the dark of the early morning hours. It was only when they reached their hotel, and the GazettE’s other members were so dead on their feet that they could not move in any capacity to interrupt Reita’s actions, that Reita was finally able to claim Kitty for his care. After long hours of whipping his heavy bass around, Reita’s arms felt like jelly. Even so, Kitty felt feather light to his tired muscles. He was mostly unconscious as he tramped up to the nearest of their hotel rooms, but he was awake enough to feel a supreme satisfaction as Kitty snuggled in closer to him and mumbled, “Arigatou, Bakira.” With Kitty and his bandmates around him, Reita collapsed onto the nearest bed. None of them really knew which of the rooms they were in, they’d had enough in the tour budget for all of them to have their own room, but they were far too tired to care. Reita was curled possessively round Kitty, and perfectly content to sleep soundly despite the fact that the bed he shared with her also contained four other men. Of all of them, it was only Reita that Kitty clung to as she slept, and that was all that really mattered to Reita. ♡♥Finite♥♡ |
