Tora knew exactly what Namie thought about vampire romances, and vampires in general for that matter. He knew that the door stop for her dressing room was a copy of Twilight. He knew that Namie was using a volume of Vampire Knight to level her kitchen table back home, well most of a volume. Some of the pages had to be torn out to make it perfectly level. He also knew that she thought real-life nommers were all lunatics.
In simple terms, the fantasies of millions of girls around the world were viewed as absolutely idiotic by the one girl whose opinion mattered to Tora on the subject. The guitarist was supremely pleased by the fact that Namie couldn’t care less about sparkly men that promised forever. Tora had watched Saga deal with Yuuki’s wild mind more than once. Even Chisa and Erika weren’t immune and every now and again, they towed Shou and Hiroto around on the romanticism of vampires. Hell, even Mira had admitted to Nao that there was some appeal. But Tora had been spared from it all. Namie thought it was all crap and didn’t care one wit for it. He supposed that it was for the very reason that he had been spared any external idiocy being forced upon him that bred inklings of vampiric charm in his own head. Though he would die a thousand times before he would even come close to admitting it, he had found himself entertaining weird notions about vampires and romance and Namie on the odd occasion. Or not so odd as it was coming to be. With the fact that the theme of the concert tour they were on being that of nothing less than vampires, it wasn’t outrageous that Tora’s thoughts were more and more frequently turned to the vampire side of things. It was completely understandable. It was totally reasonable for Tora to be reminded of epic tales of vampire romance when Namie was lounging backstage in a silky red dress with her perfectly pale skin, or he held her close for a photoshoot, his fake fangs poised against her neck and her incredibly sweet scent filling his nose. The perfume she used turned him on like nothing else in the world, and he supposed it could be compared to the insatiable desire of the undead. And she was so vibrant, alive and active and chipper even after the latest shows. Tora was forced to seriously question the non-existence of vampirism as he ran around the stage with Namie after the finales and encores. He could feel the energy radiating out of her and she was frequently the only reason that he could remain standing, he could pull the energy she was exuding into himself. When she did at last fall asleep, it was always in his protective care. He could imagine how nice it would be to have the security of forever, how wonderful promising her eternity would feel. He could see the appeal of being able to stay with her forever, not just the next 60 years or so, when ‘Death do us part’. Tora could see the appeal of a desire so strong it over rode everything else. He understood that protective streak, the obnoxiously stubborn desire to care for a girl that wasn’t fond of being cared for. Tora didn’t technically sparkle, but under the stage lights with all the make-up he was wearing, more than a few fans had drawn a comparison. He was ten thousand times better than that stupid Edward character though, of that, Tora was sure. With all the rants Namie went on about how she wouldn’t be able to live if Erika said one more thing about the fairy-vamp, as she called him, Tora knew that he was much better. And actually, Tora could see that Namie was right to abhor everything about him. At the same time though, with the exact characters aside, there was an appeal to the mystique of a vampire romance. Something in the promises of forever and singularly uncontested desire for one person had its charm. The notion of an ageless romance, a certain vampiric elegance, wasn’t limited to twilight alone. In it's other incarnations, there was a certain edge of romance and intrigue to the deeper layers. Even so, Tora knew exactly what Namie thought of vampires. He also knew that he, most secretly of course, didn’t quite agree. ♡♥Finite♥♡ |
