Meh, not my favorite, but on my good side.
On to the review then: I was never caught by this song, there's no point in it where I just lean back and think 'awesome', but at the same time, I've had it in my active playlist since it came out and I'm still not bored with it. The beat is pretty generic, but it's lively and fun. The lyrics too are nothing special but they're easy to catch on to so the learning curve is quick so you can sing along. Video wise, the choreography is fabulous. All the moves are sharp and perfectly on point, and the videography surrounding its capture is pretty top notch. The styling looks good, it's very standardized kpop-quirky, but it suits the rest of the MV. Over all, I like it.
Now, the story version on the otherhand... That's something that's not so high on my list of hot releases. The fact that its release was dependent on reaching 200k views was just part of why I'm ambivalent. I don't really approve of the fact that companies are demanding views in exchange for bonus media like this. I mean it's nice that they want to inflate their bands' view-counts, but it just feels so artificial to me. Getting back to Video Game the story version is pretty lame, it really doesn't feel like it's worth the wait. Essentially, it's a dance version with a story haphazardly thrown on top of it, and the stitched awkwardly to the bones of the original because it couldn't stay together otherwise... | |
