Beautiful Beyond Words
Radioactive was a great song from the very beginning, obviously, but it wasn't my favorite of Imagine Dragons latest album (that honor goes without hesitation to Tiptoe). This version of Radioactive is spectacular, strong and dramatic in all the ways the original was, but fuller and melodically dynamic in brand new dimensions. It's not quite as straight up powerful, but it has an interesting communal element in it that makes it feel much more human and heart wrenching. In the original, it's one guy singing about something we've all felt, in this version, it's a group of people, right next to each other, and yet still separated, and all simultaneously trying to understand themselves.
I really like it.
And the MV is beautifully done, cool setting, unique camera angles, crazy awesome styling. And of course, Lindsey's sort of choreography with her violin. Over all, it's a treat to watch. The only thing keeping it from earning almost 10 is the fact that it's a cover and I have a rule that covers just can't have a 10 on my grading scale, just because they're covers and . . . yeah. It's just a rule.
